DIY: Seashell candles

Writer: Perla MareenaPerla Mareena

I have decided to add this easy DIY as my first blog post. It's a really easy and quick tutorial, however, kids should ask adults for help with wax melting and pouring into the shells, as it's hot.

These candles can but don't have to be lighted, in any case, they are the perfect decoration for every mermaid, big or small.

What will you need?

  • seashells

  • tea light candles

  • paint, glitter, or anything to decorate your shells

  • microwave or stove

  1. Paint your seashell as you'd like. I went for simple yet elegant golden edges.

2. Deconstruct the candles, and save the wicks, we will need them later. We can melt the wax next.

3 minutes in the microwave or a few minutes on the stove should be enough. BE CAREFUL, the wax is hot!

3. Stand the shell on a stable surface, so the wax won't pour out. I used washi tapes and small stands. Put wick inside the shell, glue it down if you need (by glue or a drop of wax), and pour the wax on top.

4. Leave the candle to set properly, it can take up to half an hour. And then you can place it somewhere it makes you happy. I have them around my bath and on my vanity.

Every time you light the candle, make sure, it's on a stable surface and there is nothing flammable around, also never leave it alone in the room.

I wish you a very beautiful day and I hope these candles bring you a lot of happiness. If you try to make them, don't forget to tag me, I can't wait to see your creations.
